LRP ICS

By Ben Rhodes

It took me so long to get this. As I open the box I started to dream about how good this thing is going to be. I heard a lot about this and I hoped it was all it was cracked up to be. The First thing I did was read the manual very carefully. The instructions were very detailed any very easy to follow. The first thing it asked me to do is set up the receiver plug and the battery plug. This was not so easy because if you don't hard wire you battery you need to buy some extra wire(if there is not enough left to hook the plug to the battery).

After that it was ready to go. The feature I like about this is the programmable chips for the torque limiter. It has two programs that ether help you select whether you need more battery life or more power.

Setting up the control was a snap using one touch set up. I tested the control on a short indoor track(because it is really cold outside now in NY) and in my XX CR that I have recently got. I only race in Stock but I also have a mod motor. First I tested it with my maxtec stock motor. The first thing I noticed is that I had more control over the car. The car felt like it had more mid trigger control than my old Tekins did.

The car handled like it was on rails. With the programmable torque limiter it made tire slip not a factor any more ( if the track is not to slick). I took out my maxtec stock and put my maxtec 12 turn triple out. The motor was really fast. The control of the speedo was so good I decided to race mod for the first time this year. The first time out I was all over the place but the throttle control was very good. The tire slippage was very little and the acceleration of the speedo was insane.

The first qualifier I finished 4th . The race was a the fastest race I had every drove before. My car was flying. The turns were great and the jumps I cleared with ease. The speedo never got hot at all. I could hold my finger there longer than ten minutes(after that it cooled to room temperature). The second qualifier I finished in 5th because of a stupid wall( who needs em).

I qualified in the b main (not so bad for my first mid race). The coolest feature on the thing is the active start device. What this does it shuts off the torque limiter and makes it accelerate faster. They race was very close with me in 2nd and the leader Tom only two seconds ways. The control was doing very well. It seam never to drop my voltage until the last lap when the battery dumped a little. I am happy to say that the speed control does what I needs to do very well. After I finished in 2nd I took some time and stayed after at the track. I ran the speedo battery after battery. I took 3 6-cell batteries to make the speedo hot to the touch. But when it was like the speedo functioned as it was cool.

Final Thoughts

This speedo was a very good buy. But since the price is pretty high I would not recommend it to the novice. But if you race in stock or mod this is the way to go.
