RC2000 BATTERY PACK REVIEW
I am reviewing the new 2000's. I received my first pack around christmas time
a new Ex-Tech 2000 matched pack, so far i have ran them about 5-6 times
(i use it as my main pack) and so far it puts out better than matched
1700's run time and power wise. They also retain about the same voltage
1.09-1.12 about and they run time is about 20-30 seconds at the least.
the resistance has also similar at avg. 29. they are also more
consistent because a lot more cells will make the cuts of matching than the 1700's.
So that means you will be able to buy more high-quality packs.
But they're a bit pricey my pack costed about $91 canadian.
I assume that they will go down in price once they boost production and
have more available and stocked and probably will cost $10 more than regular
packs. They can also take more of a beating than the 1700 black cells,
they can withstand high heat, hot mods and abusive charge methods.
They also average over 2000 mah my pack contained about
2200 killer mah which my matched 1700's had 1803 mah
when discharged on a super Iq. You can also add those teeth to your
pinion too but watch out your motor will heat up more!
I suggest you should wait until you need new packs to go to the 2000's
but there has recently been a scare amongst the r/c crowd imported
2000's that are silver rather than brownish and do not have recycling
seals on them that makes them illegal for sale in the U.S.A. and
probably in Canada and most of north america I think. They are
illegal for sale but if you come across someone selling these
imported cells you are encouraged to phone 1-800-8-battery for
information regarding recycling batteries and what to do in this case.
All this commotion about these cells have prompted
stereo types about these cells saying "there a waste of money"
even though they are a bit expensive i still will recommend when you
buy a new pack go with the 2000's and if your on sort of a tight
R/C budget go with 2000 sport packs coming out soon. Also
take good care of these by discharging your packs with
a discharger such as a battery bug (cobra) which only cost
3-5 dollars and will make your pack run a life time but if you
are going to discharge these cells on bulbs i recommend that you use
deans black box that cuts off your voltage so they don't over
discharge.
In conclusion i think the 2000's are great! they offer
similar voltage and mah (300-800) more than 1700's. But wait
before you purchase these the thing you need to work on before
buying matched packs is your driving.
